Cold Tea

We were like
an unfortunate cup of tea.
Steaming
promising enjoyment
But still too hot to touch.
So I waited,
 anxious for the perfect temperature
at which to sip
The lovely herbs in peace.
But I was too patient for my own good,
And the liquid is now
 too chilly for me.
Cold
is what I am left with.
You kept me
waiting
too
long.

Brief Insanity

Something hit me that night
After I drank too much wine
I didn’t even like the taste
But something about the image of insanity
Me drinking and eating a candlelit dinner by myself,
Made me happy because it was a true projection of how I felt inside.
Broken to the point of madness.
And then as I laid on the kitchen floor
And all hell broke loose
As I told the ceiling how much I missed you
And how much it all hurt,
Because I knew the ceiling would listen and understand my screams
And would not shy away from my shaking sobs like you would.
Suddenly amidst my breakdown and the craziness,
I never felt more stable or sober.
Because I realized
You were not worth mentally breaking down over,
And the only person worth slipping into madness over,
Was if I had lost myself. And maybe I had.
It is not you I mourn, but the aftermath that caused me to find I had disappeared long ago.
I stand up and go to clean my dishes
And search for myself again,

Because that is who I want back.

Tell the Skies I've Fallen

I look to the skies
and cry out your name
to let it be known in all of the heavens
their angel has fallen to a devilish saint
I look to the skies
and watch you set them aflame
and fly to the heart of the fire
to wallow in such a glorious pain
I look to the skies
to find myself lost in your eyes
so I give you my hand
and follow you through your lovely maze
I look to the skies
to see them crumble in spite
as I fall to my knees
to worship your wicked ways

Two Negatives Can't Attract

I could not love you because I cannot love someone like me. It's true: two likes repel.

The Eternal Loss

You gave me your entirety for eternity. I wasted it entirely. And lost you eternally.

I am a droplet

I don’t know where I am going
I don’t know where I have been
I don’t know where I want to go,
I don’t know who I am.

I am the droplet of water on the branch,
That looks as though it is about to fall,
But remains dangling in empty space.

I am the second hand of the clock
Always in between the numbers on the face.

I start to run somewhere
But then I stumble
And realize I don’t know why the fuck I’m running there.
I turn around
And drag back here,

Here.
Here isn’t even a here as much as it is a state of matter,
A floating, drifting, wasting,
Somewhere but nowhere.

I believe my art is the purest translation of my thought...

The birthplace of a thought is a transcendent, liminal space- somewhere undefined and uncontained. Thus, from the moment it is conceived a thought rises above anything that can be fit into a heedless combination of twenty-six letters that relay a concrete, non fluid meaning. The abstract formlessness of art complements the indefinite, evolving nature of thoughts. Often, I find that my thoughts are not done justice by spoken words. Of course, words are an outlet through which thoughts are expressed, but it is the nature in which these words are used that distinguishes them. Poetry and writing are able to capture the originality of a thought because each word is carefully selected to reflect the feeling and the passion behind the thought. As a writer and an artist I take care not to corrupt my original thought, whereas in my day to day life I often speak without taking into consideration whether my words capture the essence of my original idea.
This is why I write; to slow down, to find myself, and to do justice to the power of thought.
Why do you write?

To Our Fellow Souls

Hello lovely souls,

A major reason why we started this blog was not just to publish our poetry, thoughts, and art, but to share it on a platform that will spark critique, inspiration, and discussion.

We both share our poetry with each other all of the time, and occasionally with a few other close friends. It is now time that we expand our audience, and our courage to let our art be vulnerable to all.

We want to communicate.
We want to discuss.
We want to connect with strangers on an intellectual level.

Knowing something we created is simply viewed resonates deeply within our hearts.

Though we are anonymous, publishing our raw, uncensored thoughts has made us feel more known than ever.

We wish to be your comrade in the love of the creation of the mind, a rare form of beauty that is often under-celebrated.

A Moment Lost

I do not mourn a loss of love,
but the loss of
a moment.

Fleeting, hazy, and scandalous as it may be,
I grieve its passing with as much emotion as though it existed for longer than
an intoxicated evening in the incandescent moonlight.

The water lapped up onto my arms
but they were numb to the chill.
My body was free of sensation
lest
my eyes that were burning
trying to absorb the sudden desire, passion, and gentleness that exuded from your own.

There was
nothing
between us.
But for a moment in time we saw each other as beautiful.
For a few seconds we did not glare in dislike
or blink with indifference.
One time one late summer evening we felt.

Welcome to our Blog!

Thank you for visiting our exciting new blog, The Ethereal Soul! This has been a creative vision of ours to bring together all of our unique life experiences and moments of reflection through writing and art. To us, the ethereal soul is one that transcends beyond the mundane, and looks at life as a holistic experience of raw emotion, natural beauty, and inexplicable moments. We often pick up our pens when the gravity of a single instant overcomes us with a feeling that sparks our mind, invigorates our soul, and surges through our very beings with infinite inspiration. We hope you all have been moved to the point where the abstract formlessness of art was the only thing that could capture your flood of thoughts and emotions; and if not we hope our art can move you in such a way.
